    Doin' work

Can’t believe the summer tour/vacation is over. I looked forward to it for so long and it was a blast. Fuji Rock Fest at the Mt Naeba ski resort was a great place to celebrate my birthday and see some bands that I had never seen live. Some jet lag robbed me of Them Crooked Vultures’ final show but Muse impressed with a big stage production. Got up the next day and hiked as high as I could...

Flying home from a show in Oklahoma. Despite playing with a wrecked left index finger courtesy of a San Diego surf mishap, the show was really musical and a good time. I love the piano element that Abe adds to the shows these days. There is something to be said for a short and sweet set list like we have been playing over the last month but I do prefer a full headline show. Third Eye Blind...

It's been far too long since I wrote a blog. I actually wrote one while flying to Kansas from LA but forgot about it and now its out of date. What am I thinking about?...mostly Finals game 7 on Thursday night. Luckily, the gods saw it fit to schedule me a day off. I will probably watch it alone in my hotel room so I can scream profanities at the TV without offending more than my neighbors....

Gettin' my road legs after a little spring cold attempted to interfere. Pretty darn good vibes out here with our Jameson swilling crew. Got a new idea for a video staring our bad ass lighting director and provider of the 70's rock soundtrack wailing at our parties. Opening band, Joshua James, is a group of legit traveling minstrels, crashing on couches /floors and somehow maintaining its...

I try to live by a few central tenets. Among them are: 1. Have compassion for others. 2. Do not believe everything you read. 3. Lakers. We all should know there are two sides to every story. And, the truth shall set you free. (is a bible quote overkill?) Third Eye Blind is going to continue to thrive and share, over the last 16 years it has shown nothing if not that. I...

    Man > Machine

Recorded some drums for the studio version of Monotov's(the remix) yesterday. It was fun to dig around a bit for the right approach. We started by doing 3 full drum takes. Next we did two takes where I played just the drums and then overdubbed the hi hat and cymbals. We cut up those takes in pro tools to approximate a drum machine's accuracy. Finally, we sampled the kit, put the sounds in...

What happened to last decade? 3eb is entering its 3rd decade of existence. Do we get some sort of prize for that? Actually the prize is the fact that we ARE still here. New Years in DC was probably my favorite of all time. Everything seemed to come full circle that night. The east coast side of my family who I really was able to get to know as Third Eye Blind frequented the area came out...

Up in SF for the True Meaning show. I am really ooking forward to playing with Magik Magik Orchestra again. It is really powerful when we are all clicking and it gives me a warm, fuzzy, high school band flashback. I can't believe the holidays are already upon us. This year went by frighteningly fast but that is what happens when you are busy. I feel pretty good about 2009. Third Eye...

I have been AWOL on the blogs recently as I have decompressing from tour. It takes at least a week to adjust down to a non touring pace. You get so used to constantly being on the move that the first few days at home is accompanied by a nagging feeling of having some place to be but you actually don't. It is strangely uncomfortable. My buddy had a beach house for the week up by Santa Barbara...

Big group of folks from Assembly got together for their own freakfest in Indy(I saw pics on FB to prove it). A young women is flying across the country to meet another assembly member this weekend, I am not naming names. Met a couple in San Jose who found each other on Assembly. This is exactly what we were hoping could be achieved with the help of our humble little site here. We talk about...
